The Problem

The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sports in the Western Cape Government is dealing with the task of capturing the interest of younger, tech-savvy crowds who are not as interested in traditional museum visits. There is a requirement to update and create cultural and historical content that is more interactive and attractive to a technology-focused generation that looks for engaging, visually stimulating platforms.

The Brief

The brief is to develop a digital platform named MAL Hub for the Western Cape Government. This platform aims to give users access to museums, archives, and libraries while combining educational content with a modern and attractive design. Gamification elements are required to boost user engagement, and the visual design should draw inspiration from South African culture to showcase the region's distinct heritage.

The Solution

Inspired by Karabo Poppy's lively designs, featuring striking visuals that showcase the cultural diversity of the Western Cape. The platform offers users an interactive museum portal, educational resources, and gamified quizzes to explore and learn about the region's history in an engaging and user-friendly manner. These components collaborate to promote consistent engagement and discovery.

Intended Audience

MAL Hub is designed for tech-savvy younger individuals, students, and families who enjoy interactive learning experiences. The platform attracts people intrigued by local culture who may not usually go to museums or archives.
